Check out these quality links for great resources on photography such as education, techniques, and even used equipment. I'll give a short reason why I have used these resources for years.
Great photo forums and websites
Canon Digital Photography Forums - All about Canons
A great forum talking about all things Canon, from cameras to lenses. See great photos from Canon users related too all fields photography.
dpreview.com - Digital photography news
Get the latest info about photography equipment from these chaps in England. Smart reviews, and quite thorough in what they cover.
Photography Equipment Purchase and Rental
(These are all companies/people I have actually used)
Aperturent.com - Lens Rental
Apeturent.com is run by my friend Oscar, and has gotten bigger over the last several years. Oscar is very supportive of students, and of photography in general. Like many other Lens rental places he is one of us (photographers) and is willing to go the extra mile in explaining equipment and being part of the community. The stunning advantage Oscar and Aperturent has is it's about 14 miles away from Me. So not only could we student rent lenses, we can pick it up for a great price.
B&H Photo Video - Photography Equipment Purchase
If you have looked to buy any photography equipment online, mostly professional gear, there's a great chance you have heard of B&H Photo Video. It is the de facto standard of internet reseller for any gear related to Audio and Visual recording. I'm one of their affiliates, and they have treated me really well. If you are interested in purchasing any equipment soon please use my link above.
Fredmiranda.com - Used Equipment Purchase
I've been a member of fredmiranda.com for over 5 years. Check out the forum section for one of the best buy/sell used sections for photography on the web. How good is it? I've purchased over $30,000 worth of equipment (when I had a job, sigh) which if purchased retail would of cost me $46,000. Not bad at all. A great community.
Craigslist.com - Used Equipment Purchase
Most people have heard of craigslist. I buy a surprisingly amount of stuff off there such as props, equipment, and even have solicited work that has paid back in dividends. Definitely a great resource to use once you filter out the unwanted.
