Helping a friend shoot

My photo buddy and classmate Ian has a pretty cool shoot today for a modeling agency.  He recruited me to help with lighting and pretty much use my gear (hey it happens).  He's got some pretty good ideas and themes going for today, with most all of the shots being done at a O'Malley's Pub in Woodstock, GA.  Well what a great post to make on the blog.  So check it out today as I put up some photos and chat a little about what the setups are.

So what exactly is my main role?  See the lights in the photos, yeah that's my job today.

Check out more photos of the day on my flickr page

Ian getting ready
Ian setups his first shot at the pool table.  Lighting is a softbox for key,
strip light for a kicker, and beauty dish as a kicker.

The first shot
Ian takes his first shot.  Cool angle, and pretty cool results
(I'll post them later)

This post contains some suggestive wardrobes, nothing bad but you've been warned.

Classmate Highlight! | Christina Cline

And now for the next Classmate Highlight, I'm proud to introduce to you the adorable Christina Cline.  Christina is the low key lady in the class, barely says anything, but always a fun person to talk too.  She's mean to me today, but she says she's being "Truthful", I guess the truth is a "Punch to the head".  Despite that I think she rocks so check out her blog.

Why should you check out her blog?

If you go to the beginning you can check out some cool Italy photos!

Classmate Highlight | Michael Hazzard

It's time for another installment of Classmate highlights.  The victim...I mean spotlight today is none other than Michael Hazzard.  Spend a few minutes with Michael and you will find yourself amazed at how personable and nice he is.  I don't know what secret Michael's mom knows about raising a fine gentleman, but it really worked on her son.  Outside of Michael's pleasant personality, he is also a fantastic photographer and a curious student.
He is great in photoshop and his work shows his technique.

Check out his blog at : Michael Hazzard Photography

Why should you check his blog?

Because the dude only has less than 220 views right now, and he deserves more :)

Classmate Highlight | Christopher Snyder

And for the next classmate highlight, we have Mr. Christopher Snyder.  Chris...is a hoot.  When the program first started last year Snyder was basically the young punk of the group (dude was barely 18).  My how much can change in a year!  Well in Chris's case he didn't change much.  He's still a punk, but he's our punk.

None the less, check out his blog : Chris Snyder Photography

So why should you check it out?

Because my cat is on it, darn it!

20 minutes with Christina Lee

I love Lee, she's hilarious.  For those who don't know her, Lee is the residential artist and all around sassy awesome in our photography upper quarter class.  She is pretty much known throughout the school, and everyone gets along with her.  I also love the fact that she told me she disliked me once, before she knew me.  Cause I was that dude who had all the camera stuff, and I acted all snooty and high and mighty.  Of course that was for like a day, or maybe 10...than she gave me a second chance :).

Well Lee dropped by a few days ago to borrow a light, and we all hung out at my place.  Ian, Sterling, Tiff, Lee, and I talked movies, mayhem, and more.  Like all hippie fest (or how it seems to be) a Ukulele comes out and Lee starts jamming.  After the initial wail of Tiff screaming bloody murder about anyone who can play the Ukulele better than her (which is anyone who plays a guitar at all), I decided to take some photos of Lee.

And thus the title!  20 minutes of shooting Christina Lee.

For this shoot I broke out a Paul C Buff Parabolic Light Modifier that my friend Jamie let me borrow.  It's this uber huge umbrella light modifier that reflects a huge amount of light into a tinier than normal area.  Attached to my Norman ML600r, it was popping a crazy amount of light out and even provided a unique background.  Check out the photos!
